Museum opens for 2012!

Norton Priory Museum & Gardens will be open to the public from Saturday 14th January 2012.  We apologise for any inconvenience whilst we have been closed.

Staff have been busy getting the site ready for the new year ahead. Some new objects have gone on display including medieval to 17th century animal bone, which helps to explore the diet of the medieval cannons and the types of wildlife once found in the local area. Also, a recreation of the Dutton knight memorial made using replica decorated tiles. The tiles were made with the assistance of visitors to the 'Knight on the Tiles' event in the summer 2009.

Childrens artwork on display at Manchester Airport

Cheshire Gardens of Distinction and Manchester Airport have been working together on a art project with the aim of widening participation and interest of Cheshire's gardens to families and young people who may never have had the opportunity to see them before.

The Manchester Airport Schools art project selected schools from areas around Manchester Airport, predominantly from areas affected by the operations of the airport. Working with community artist Andy Leigh the children visited one of the gardens and produced unique art depicting key features from the garden for display within Terminal 3. The project showcases the talent of the children, promotes the airports socially responsible approach and highlights the gardens as a tourist attraction. There were 27 pictures produced in total.
