Use all your senses to explore our medieval herb garden. In the orchard children will make paper plant pots and plant seeds to take away, weed the vegetable plot and water in the new plants. Close the session with a nursery rhyme round our very own mulberry tree. 

Beastly Business

Your class will search for the variety of life in the Walled Garden. They will collect the minibeasts at their feet.

Water Detectives

Collect and observe pond life in its natural habitat through a practical pond dipping session. Find out about the plants and birds that live around the pond.

The Victorian Garden

Investigate the ‘goings on’ in the garden with the Brooke family gardener. Dressed in period costume, he will guide your class through the garden and involve them in his daily routine. Children will plant seeds, wash pots, prepare soil and pick fruit (depending on time of year).

Story Telling

Owl Babies at the Walled Garden. Look out for the real thing with our Ranger as you walk through the woodland (depending on season). Listen to the story and find out lots of interesting things about these fascinating birds.

Toys And Noise

A lively session for children to play with a variety of toys. Replica Victorian toys bring a new dimension to play and learning.

Rub A Dub Dub

Our costumed laundry maid will invite the children to help her with the weekly wash using dolly tubs, dollies, wash boards and old-fashioned elbow-grease!
