Norton Priory aims to be a world class community museum, and we work with many different groups and individuals from the local community as part of our day to day work and as part of special projects.
From 2005 – 2007, we received Heritage Lottery Funding to develop outreach work and a volunteer programme at Norton Priory. The aims of this project were to build up relationships with the local community, to empower them to find out about, and get involved with, their local heritage and to make changes to our organisation that would make us a bigger part of local people’s lives and a better place to visit.
We have worked with hundreds of individuals as well as with partners including Halton Voluntary Action, Age Concern, Halton Children Centres, Thorn Cross Young Offenders Institute, Halton Borough Council’s Adult Learning team, the Prince’s Trust, CDS & LHT Housing Trusts, residential and sheltered housing schemes and day service providers. |
