We invite you to take part in our first ever Wellbeing Month!  We are celebrating all things related to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing, through a special month of Discover Sundays and events designed in collaboration with Nightstop Communities Northwest (NCNW).  Each Sunday in April will focus on a different theme, and drop in and book on activities will be available for all the family.

All activities are free with general admission tickets except the evening concert on 14th April.  Some free activities will require booking to secure your place.    

The programme will include:

7th April – Wellbeing Month Launch -   NCNW’s ‘Takeover Day!’

The day will be led by NCNW who will run activities, events, stalls, signposting and more.  Come along and join in.

 

14th April: Sound and Music Wellbeing Day.

10.30  - 1.30 Storytelling with Rogan Mills. Drop in.

Entertaining storyteller Rogan Mills returns to Norton Priory with special wellbeing themed stories for all the family!

2pm – 4.30pm – Samba Drumming workshops with SambaMundo Northwest.  Drop in.

This exciting and dynamic group of musicians will get your blood pumping and your ears ringing. No prior experience necessary – just come and join in.

12pm – 3pm –  Drawing to Music  with Juliet Staines. Drop in.

Explore the principles of synesthesia by drawing to music and developing sensory stimulation, mindfulness and wellbeing. Visitors can listen to the rhythms in different genres of music and explore mark making using a variety of drawing techniques such as continuous line and two handed drawing.

14th April 7pmEvening concert: ‘Five Hundred Years of Sacred and Secular Choral Music’ with The St Nicholas Singers. 

A special evening choral concert by this popular professional chamber choir, set in our historic Undercroft.  Book your tickets now for a perfect way to round off Sound and Music day.  Tickets are available here.

 

21st April:  ‘Food for the Soul’.  

Come and find your inner peace, and create a zone of calm tranquility, with a day of meditation and yoga workshops for children and adults, complimentary therapies, and mindfulness activities.  

Selected times during the day: Meditation sessions, tips and advice from Mima Cornish. Drop in.

Find out about the practice of meditation, try it for yourself and discover how to get the best experience. 

Complimentary therapies and taster session workshops from In Harmony Reflexology. Drop in. 

Come and find out about Indian head massage, hand reflexology and other complimentary therapies to aid your wellbeing.  

10.30am till 12.30pm  and 2.30pm till 4.30pm: Mindful Calligraphy workshops with Brian Whitmore. Drop in.

Celebrated calligraphy artist Brian Whitmore returns to Norton Priory with some mindful art workshops for all the family.  Create your own tranquil moment and take some art home with you.  

10.30am till 12.30pm and 2.30pm till 4.30pm: Family Yoga workshops with Wriggly Wellness. Drop in. 

Wriggly Wellness yoga provide fun and relaxing family and childrens yoga workshops, including games, dancing and yoga flows focusing on all things positive! 

There will also be food and gift stalls available during the day from offering healthy food and wellbeing gifts. 

 

28th AprilNature and Animals Day. Drop in.

10.30am – 1.30pm Bird themed craft activities with Blue Room at Norton Priory

Connect with nature and fire your imagination by exploring Blue Room’s bird sculpture trail across the museum and making your own feathered friend bird puppet to take home. This activity is for all ages and all materials are provided. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

1.30pm  - 4.30pm. Animal Therapy with Animal Teach.  Book on here

Find out how our scaly and slimy friends can help you feel less stressed in a busy world.

Animal Teach will hold special workshops where families can handle and look at a variety of creatures.  There will also be some craft activities at the end of the session. 

Please note – free places are allocated for the Animal Teach sessions limited to 15 children per session so please book early to secure your place.  Children must be accompanied by at least one adult for the session. 

Selected times during the day: Guided walks around the museum woodland and gardens with Mima Cornish.

Meditation and mindfulness practitioner Mima Cornish of Hedgerosehealing will take visitors on mindful walks around the woodlands and grounds, to explore and absorb the beauty of our surroundings. Times to be confirmed.
